Tajik State Medical University Fire

Yesterday, a colleague told me that the Tajik State Medical University had caught fire. It seems that it has totally burned down; not much is left. There were tens of thousands of books in the basement of the building. On Neweurasia, a blog site with news about Central Asia, someone says that the firemen could not approach the building because of the iron fence around it. Others are saying that the firefighters did not have enough water or special extinguishing foam to fight the fire well.
Today, after the last conference on “healthy nutrition”, I went with Nienke to the University to see what it looks like. Students were waiting outside the gate. Others were helping take books out of the building. On the picture you can see the fire brigade and some students.
